The Rotary-Draw Tube-Bending Guide

The Rotary-Draw Tube-Bending Guide: Four Steps to Improved Bending".

This is a printable handbook showing how to implement in four standardized steps the "forward mandrel" set-up for rotary-draw tube-bending machines and establish process control over the so-called black art.  The procedure is based upon the guiding principle that the tools make the bend and takes advantage of the inserted design of modern mandrel tooling.

Thus, the "forward mandrel" set-up makes the mandrel nose the workhorse of every tube-bending job, thus allowing the machine to operate under lower pressure, extending the life of all the other tools in the set-up (especially the wiper), and improving bend quality.

"The Rotary-Draw Tube-Bending Guide" is illustrated and includes the formulas to standardize all of your machine set-ups on the same principles.  These handbooks are great to have at each of your tube-bending machines.  To download your free copy, click here .

The Mandrel Nose Placement Calculator

This is a very helpful interactive utlity that calculates the ideal placement of the madrel nose. It also generates the ideal mandrel nose diameter for your specific application. This set-up tool should be used in conjuction with the "Forward Mandrel, Lowe Pressure" set-up technique outlined in our "Rotary Draw Tube Bending Guide".

Bend Tooling Technical Articles

Periodically throughout the year, we prepare an illustrated technical article on a topic related to rotary-draw tube-bending, particularly mandrel bending.  We cover the design and specification of rotary-draw tooling, inserted vs. traditional solid-body tooling, process control issues, set-up tips, and other matters important to high-quality tube-bending.

This series is helpful for anyone in your organization involved in tube-bending, including machine operators, engineers, designers, production managers, and purchasing staff.
